Interested in making a Reel/TikTok for Five Minutes account but not sure how? There are two ways!

Option 1: Create a video.

Step #1: Go into the camera app on your phone (or other device).

Step #2: Record your video in portrait mode (this means your phone is placed vertically, not horizontally).

Step #3: Upload your video as an attachment to an email and send to susanna@fiveminutelit.com with the subject line Video. From there, it will make it to the editors who can upload your video to Instagram Reels and TikTok.

Option 2: Share a video you’ve already made.

If you have already created a Reel/TikTok related to your Five Minutes piece, we would be happy to repost it to our account! Just make sure your account allows for reposts and is not private.

TikTok:

Step #1: Go into your account settings and click privacy.

Step #2: Toggle the switch to allow reposts.

Step #3: Tag us in the description or comments so it reaches us! We’re @five_minute_lit.

Instagram:

Step #1: Add us as a collaborator. That’s it!

Ideas!

• Talk about the story behind the story. Why was this moment impactful? What caused it to stick with you?

• Explain a stylistic choice. Why did you choose a certain word or sentence structure?

• Tell us the behind the scenes. What was the hardest part about writing your piece? What caused you to struggle with it?

• Anything else! Just keep it related to your Five Minutes publication.
