Reunion

I remember that reunion. It was cocktail hour, everyone in their finery. I️ was walking away from the bar, balancing my drink while navigating the well-manicured lawn in heels. I️ was heading back to my friends and there he was, suddenly, stealthily by my side, arm around my waist steadying me. A whispered hello as he pulled me closer, the heady rush of muscle memory as I️ leaned into him and that old feeling, that knowing that we just fit together. We were alone in the middle of the crowd and for a moment we were 20 years old again.
