Brigham's

When I was young, my mother and I sat at the Brigham’s counter on Saturdays for lunch. She made sure to sit on a stool that offered a full view of the mall outside the restaurant. We talked about my week at school or a movie we planned to see. Suddenly my mom would say “There’s your husband!” I would spin around to see the most unattractive man walking by and squeal my protest. We laughed loudly enough that other customers would turn to stare. “I have fond memories of those times with my mom,” I tell my beautiful wife.

E.M. Panos is addicted to reading and traveling. She spends her weekends jotting down life quotes from her mother.
