My Santa Kids

I sat beside my Christmas tree, remembering Christmas Eves when my two grandkids, mostly grown now, were still small. I would dress as Santa Claus and my daughter, their aunt, would be an elf. We would jingle our way along the kids’ sidewalk, down the driveway, and across the backyard. They would be squealing and bobbing up and down with excitement. My reverie by my Christmas tree was interrupted by a jingling sound from out on the patio. When I looked out, there were Santa and his elf. They were smiling and waving at me. I knew who they were.
