End

Tongues. Hands. Entanglement. Seventeen. April Vacation. You came home early for your birthday. We spent the time avoiding what we were taught to avoid. I wanted forever. You thought you wanted forever. But even true love has its limits. I knew it before you knew it. I knew it that day, wrapped in the crocheted blanket, on the rug in your parents’ living room. It would take you several months, as I knew it would. But that day you came back with pizza and smiles. And we kissed. And I loved you so much. Because I knew it would end.

Elizabeth McGovern is a graduate student at Salem State, works at Suffolk University, and lives with her two (mostly) endearing children and long-bearded husband. She's pretty good to have on your team at trivia night.
